Dr. Sarra Abu El-Gasim

Dr Sarra Abu El-Gasim is a UK board-certified Consultant in General Paediatrics with a special interest in Paediatric Allergy. She obtained her primary medical degree (MBBS) from King's College London and was awarded her membership by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2015.

Dr Abu El-Gasim finished her specialist training (CCT) in General Paediatrics and has extensive clinical experience in the field since 2010, including within various subspecialties such as paediatric emergency medicine, paediatric endocrinology/bariatric service, paediatric allergy, paediatric surgery and neonatology. She worked at several prestigious teaching hospitals across London, providing secondary and tertiary care paediatric services. She is fully competent in the management of a broad range of acute and chronic general paediatric conditions, with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Dr Abu El-Gasim completed the RCPCH Specialist Interest Module (SPIN) in Paediatric Allergy after working at two dedicated and well-established paediatric allergy departments in London (Evelina Children’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital). She accumulated significant experience in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases in children and co-existing atopic conditions such as asthma and eczema. She is proficient at performing cutaneous allergy testing in children. Before moving to the UAE, she provided consultant grade services in general paediatrics and paediatric allergy at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London. In the UAE, she worked as a Consultant General Paediatrician at Burjeel Hospital, covering paediatric inpatient and outpatient services. During her tenure, she set up the paediatric allergy service, which included skin prick testing. Dr Sarra Abu EL-Gasim is an active member of both the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) and the British Paediatric Allergy, Immunity, and Infection Group (BPAIIG). She presented at the national BSACI conference, and developed a trust-wide clinical guideline in the management of IgE-mediated egg allergies in children. She also worked as an Educational Fellow at the Allergy Academy of King’s College London, and was involved in the design and operational management of innovative educational events for various health care professionals and academic institutions. She is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and adopts a holistic approach to her management. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in clinical governance procedures and quality improvement projects/ audits.
