Dr Hajar El Aakel graduated from the Faculty of Podiatric medicine and Health science, University of Barcelona Campus of Bellvitge. One of the leading universities in Europe. She pursued her studies with a master’s degree in Paediatric podiatry, Podiatric surgery and a PhD in Forensic Podiatry with the Superior Academy of Forensic and Criminology Studies in Spain. Prior moving to UAE, Dr Hajar worked in Spain as a podiatrist in the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona and Bellvitge Hospital where she managed diabetic foot disorders including wound care, infection management, Charcot foot, and limb preservation. Performing biomechanical studies by utilizing 3D foot pressure platforms/scanning and video gait analysis which includes offloading strategies, custom orthoses, prosthetic devices, and all type of orthopaedic shoes. She was committed to help her patients to improve their quality of life and achieve higher levels of mobility and reduce the number of foot amputations. In the UAE, she established the first podiatry clinic with a complete orthotics and prosthetics laboratory and a full gait and postural analysis space in two different clinics and one hospital in Abu Dhabi, and now in Global care hospital with more innovative and latest technology for a better assessment, treatment, and results. Her focus is specially in to understand how the foot can affect the body and how the body can affect the foot, trying to compensate both taking care of the overall body health.
