Dr. Hawraa Sameer Sajwani is an internationally trained and highly accomplished Consultant Psychiatrist, specializing in Addiction Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. With over 16 years of clinical experience—including four years of advanced training in the United States and Canada—she is recognized as the first Emirati physician licensed in Addiction Psychiatry.

Dr. Hawraa Sameer Sajwani provides patient-centered, evidence-based care through a holistic approach to assessment, rehabilitation, and recovery across all stages of mental health. Her expertise lies in managing complex psychiatric conditions, with a particular focus on substance use disorders, biopsychosocial rehabilitation, and the integration of physical and mental health. She has held several prestigious leadership roles, including Division Head of the Addiction Unit at SEHA Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, member of the Drug Control Committee under the Ministry of Interior (MOI), member of the Department of Health Mental Health Taskforce, and Chair of the National Addiction Treatment Protocol Committee under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). Currently, she serves as the Scientific Committee Chairperson of the Emirates Mental Health Society and Technical Advisor to the Arab Federation of Psychiatrists. Dr. Hawraa holds the MRCPsych and the Arab Board in Psychiatry, as well as the American Board in Medical Quality. She also earned an MSc in Addiction Studies, the ISAM Certification, a Diploma in Psychotherapy from UAEU, and a Research degree from Harvard University. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Hawraa is a dedicated educator and researcher. She has served as a faculty member in several training programs, including Psychiatry Clinical Course Director at Khalifa University and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Gulf Medical University. Her research contributions include published work on addiction, emerging psychoactive substances, and migrant mental health.
