Dr. Najwan Al-Roubaiy is a trilingual (Arabic, Swedish, and English) clinical psychologist with eighteen years of clinical experience, as well as research experience which has led to several publications in prominent British scientific journals. He is a UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered clinical psychologist; Canadian College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) registered psychotherapist; Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) licensed psychologist; and Department of Health (DOH) licensed psychologist in Abu Dhabi. He began his clinical career in the UK working at St Luke’s Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in 2004 before moving back to Sweden in 2006. In Sweden, he worked for nine years in several clinical settings such as the Psychiatry Department at Skåne University Hospital; Malmo City Council; and the Swedish Red Cross Treatment Centre for Persons Affected by War and Torture. Prior to joining Global Care Hospital, he worked in the UAE for seven years at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology (ACPN) as an adult psychologist and Head of Psychology for two years during his seven years with ACPN. Dr. Najwan Al-Roubaiy holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of East London; an MSc in Counselling Psychology from the London Metropolitan University; a Diploma in Practitioner Skills for treating Eating Disorders from the National Centre for Eating Disorders; the Specialist Qualification in Clinical Psychology from the Swedish Psychological Association; a Postgraduate Certificate in trauma-focused CBT from the University of Oxford; and a PhD in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Leicester. He is also a Chartered Member (CPsychol) and Associate Fellow (AFBPsS) of the British Psychological Society (BPS). He works primarily with adults struggling with various mental health issues including anxiety disorders (phobias, social anxiety, panic disorder, GAD, OCD, and PTSD); major depressive disorders; substance abuse; eating disorders; and adjustment disorders. His main methods for conducting psychological treatments are: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Person-Centred Therapy (PCT); Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT); Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT); and Integrative Psychotherapy.
