Frederick graduated from the University of Johannesburg with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology in 1997.
Since then, he has worked at student services for the university, at schools, orphanages, reform schools and in private practice.
He worked in the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology since 2017 and worked there for nearly 6 years.
He works with children from two years to twenty-two years old. He has experience in dealing with developmental delays, autism, attention deficit, behavioral and scholastic problems, anxiety, selective mutism and other challenges.
He believes that young children communicate their challenges better through play and therefore uses play therapy, DIR Floortime, ESDM, sand tray work, storytelling and other projection techniques to help with diagnosis and to foster healing. He also uses music therapy.
For older children he uses DBT, EMDR, Logotherapy, Gestalt therapy and Inner child work.
He also does career guidance for teenagers, scholastic and autism assessments, as well as group therapy for children with social challenges.
His motto is: Every child has a calling, destiny and purpose. Such a child is born with strengths and weaknesses that all fit together to assist the child in reaching that purpose and to find his/her place in the world to bring a unique contribution to this generation.
